Find out more information below.
SEAB concluded its Assessment Conference 2026 on a memorable note, marking a number of significant firsts in the event's history. Held over two days at the SEAB premises, this year's conference carried the theme Assessment for the Future: Transforming Practices, bringing together about 950 educators who were looking to enrich their learning and leave with meaningful takeaways.

Engagement was high amongst the participants throughout the two-day conference
A conference of firsts
The most notable milestone this year was the inclusion of two external keynote speakers. Professor Eunice Jang from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, and Dr Teo Chew Lee from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore, brought their research findings and rich experiences in the classroom to the stage, offering participants fresh perspectives on the implications of current assessment thinking for teaching and learning in schools. In a thoughtful touch, the keynotes were tailored to educators on each of the two Conference days — with Day One customised for primary school educators and Day Two for secondary school educators — ensuring that the content resonated meaningfully with all participants.

A rich and diverse programme
Beyond the keynotes, the 2026 conference offered an array of presentation formats in its concurrent sessions. Participants were introduced to emerging topics such as ipsative assessments, artificial intelligence in learning and assessment, adaptive testing, and the use of assistive technology in classrooms. Hands-on activities, including building AI assistants and designing calm bottles, alongside guided tours on the evolution of national examinations and SEAB’s operations, added an interactive dimension to the learning experience.
This year also saw an inaugural lunchtime poster display, showcasing research work by SEAB colleagues as well as projects from the Certificate in Educational Assessment (CEA) programme alumni community from primary and secondary schools.

Interactive, hands-on tasks including building an AI assistant from scratch (left) and completing real cognitive assessment tasks (right) kept participants engaged throughout.

From the evolution of national examinations to SEAB's exam operation facilities and assistive technologies like classroom buzzers, participants got an immersive, up-close look at it all.

Debuting at this year's event, the lunchtime poster display saw CEA programme alumni from primary and secondary schools personally walk participants through their research work and projects.
This year's conference also bore witness to the spirit of partnership. Reflecting the understanding that assessment is a social construct that no single organisation can address alone, SEAB opened the stage to a wider community of educators. Colleagues from the English Language Institute of Singapore (ELIS) and schools joined SEAB staff to co-present sessions. MOE's Curriculum Planning Office (CPO) and the National Institute of Education (NIE) also offered workshop sessions, further deepening the spirit of collaboration.

The response from the education community was heartening, a testament to the growing significance of the SEAB Assessment Conference as an event that educators look forward to. We cannot wait to welcome the community back at the next Assessment Conference as we continue to learn and grow together.
It takes a village! Thank you to the team that made the SEAB Assessment Conference 2026 a success.
