2024 Supplementary Registration Exercise for Private Candidates

If you have missed the main private candidates' registration exercise for the 2024 Singapore-Cambridge GCE N(T)-, N(A)-, O and /or A-Level examination(s), you can register for the examinations during the supplementary registration exercise from Monday, 20 May 2024, 9:00am to Friday, 31 May 2024, 11:00pm.

You can only register for subjects examined in the Year-End examinations via Candidates' Portal. Registration for the Mid-Year Mother Tongue Language examinations is not allowed. In addition to the subject fees, a late entry fee of S$54.50 (inclusive of GST) per examination level will be charged.

Eligibility Criteria and Registration Guidelines

The minimum age requirements and maximum number of subjects allowed for each examination level are indicated below:

  • 5 H1 subjects and 3 H2 subjects; or
  • 3 H1 subjects and 4 H2 subjects

Please note the following guidelines:

  • You cannot register as a private candidate if you are currently studying in Government/ Government-Aided/ Independent/ Specialised schools. For school candidates who wish to register for additional subjects, please seek your school's consent to register those subjects on your behalf.

  • You are allowed to register for more than one GCE-Level examination (e.g. GCE O-Level and A-Level) but you cannot register for the GCE-Level examinations and admission tests i.e. Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) and School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans – Secondary (SPERS-Sec) in the same examination year.

  • There are no pre-requisite criteria to register for most subjects in the national examinations. You should refer to the specific eligibility criteria for individual subjects in the Registration Information e-booklet.

Registration Procedure

For Singpass holders

If you are eligible for Singpass, you must register for the examination with your Singpass credentials in SEAB’s Candidates Portal.

For non-Singpass holders

If you are not eligible for Singpass, please create an account in Candidates Portal.

Examination Fees

Fees payable

The registration and examination fees for each year’s subjects can be found in the respective year’s Registration Information e-booklet. All fees are inclusive of GST at the prevailing rate.

The examination fees are dependent on the subjects you are registering for and your citizenship status at the point of registration. There will be no refund of your examination fees if you have changed your citizenship status after you have submitted your registration.

Please ensure that you have provided the correct citizenship status during your registration.

Mode of payment

You can pay your examination fees via a credit/debit card or PayNow in the Candidates Portal by the registration deadline of Friday, 31 May 2024, 11:00pm. You will not be registered for the examinations if you did not make payment by the deadline or if your payment is not successful.

Funds in your Edusave account and Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) cannot be used to pay for your examination fees.

Entry Proofs

Entry Proofs for Mid-Year and Year-End Examinations

The dates of release of the GCE-Level entry proofs (EPs) are found in the important dates for candidates.

You will be posted to different examination centres for the different Mode of Assessment (MOA) examinations i.e. Oral, Science Practical, Written examinations. As such, it is important to check your Entry Proof before the examinations.

You are required to bring a hardcopy EP for your examinations, as it will be used for attendance verification.

Science Practical Notifications

Details regarding your assigned examination centres and reporting times for your Science practical examinations will be found in the Science practical notifications.

These notifications are available for download from Candidates Portal, 7 days before each of your Science practical examinations. You will receive an email notification. Please ensure that your email address is valid.

Please contact SEAB if you have not received the notifications by the above-mentioned timeline.

Subject Amendments

All amendments of Year-End subjects must be made through Candidates Portal by Friday, 21 June 2024, 11:00pm. We do not accept amendment requests via email or call.

No additional fees for amendments will be levied if:

  • you have not paid your examination fees online; and
  • the amendments are made before the end of the registration period.

If you would like to amend your registered Year-End subjects after payment has been made or after the registration deadline of Friday, 31 May 2024, 11:00pm, you will need to pay an amendment fee of $21.80 (inclusive of GST) per amendment request, in addition to the fee for each of your added subjects. The fees for the added subjects are inclusive of GST.

You will receive a refund of the fees for any Year-End subjects that you have removed if your request is submitted by 21 June 2024.

Withdrawals

All applications for withdrawals must be made through Candidates Portal by 2 September 2024, 11:00pm. Withdrawal requests made after 2 September 2024, 11:00pm will not be considered and candidates will receive absent grade(s) for the subjects they did not sit for.

Withdrawal with refund of the subject fees

a) A 50% refund of the subject fee(s) paid may be provided if your withdrawal request is submitted to SEAB by 21 June 2024, 11:00pm and you have not sat for any component of the registered subjects that you are withdrawing from. Refunds are not provided for withdrawal requests made after 21 June 2024, 11:00pm.

b) For candidates who have been admitted to a tertiary institution and wish to withdraw your registration, a 100% refund of the subject fee(s) paid may be provided if your withdrawal request is submitted through the Candidates Portal with the supporting documents confirming your tertiary admission, by 21 June 2024, 11:00pm

You will receive your refund approximately one month after your withdrawal request has been approved by SEAB. Please note that any late registration fee and subject amendment fees are non-refundable.
